Coppa Italia secured, focus shifts to Serie A duties

After sealing qualification in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals against Torino, Inter Milan have immediately turned their attention to the upcoming Serie A fixture against Sassuolo, scheduled for Sunday at 6pm at the Mapei Stadium.

Preparation has already begun at Appiano Gentile, but Cristian Chivu will still have to cope with several absences.

Alongside Denzel Dumfries, both Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicolò Barella are expected to miss the Sassuolo match. Speaking on Sky Sport via Fcinter1908, Andrea Paventi hinted at a possible return soon: “One of the two, or maybe even both, could be back on the bench against Juventus.”

Likely lineup taking shape for Inter Milan

With the Juventus showdown in mind, Chivu appears set to manage his resources carefully.

For the trip to Reggio Emilia, Inter Milan are expected to rely on Marcus Thuram alongside Lautaro Martinez in attack.

In midfield, Piotr Zielinski is tipped to return to the starting XI, flanked by Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Sucic.

On the wings, Federico Dimarco and Luis Henrique are likely to operate wide, while Yann Sommer should start in goal behind a three-man defense made up of Bisseck, Akanji and Bastoni.

Rotation remains a key theme, but Inter Milan know that points against Sassuolo are crucial as the title race continues.
