Liverpool demands and Nottingham Forest pressure complicate Inter Milan’s plans

“The chances of seeing Curtis Jones wearing an Inter Milan shirt are rapidly decreasing.”
This is how La Gazzetta dello Sport via Fcinter1908 opens its latest focus on the Nerazzurri’s transfer market, highlighting how negotiations for the Liverpool midfielder have significantly cooled.

At the heart of the slowdown are crossed demands and strategic priorities. Liverpool, according to the report, have asked Inter Milan about Denzel Dumfries, a player the Nerazzurri are currently unwilling to let go. That request alone has effectively frozen discussions around Jones.

Jones tied to Frattesi, Forest waiting

Curtis Jones’ situation is closely linked to Davide Frattesi, who remains Nottingham Forest’s primary target.

Inter Milan have a clear stance: Frattesi will only be allowed to leave once a suitable replacement has been secured. And Jones was precisely the profile identified by Giuseppe Marotta, Piero Ausilio, Dario Baccin and head coach Cristian Chivu as the ideal successor.

So much so that Inter Milan were reportedly ready to structure a deal on the basis of a paid loan with an option to buy, for a total package worth around €40 million.

Frattesi has already spoken with Sean Dyche, Nottingham Forest’s head coach who replaced Ange Postecoglou in October, but his future remains unresolved.

The midfielder’s role under Chivu has been limited so far, with just one league start, making it difficult to believe the situation can continue without a decisive turning point.

Final hours could change everything

As always, the final 60 hours of the transfer window demand close attention. Market dynamics tend to accelerate sharply at the end, and scenarios can flip overnight.

For now, Curtis Jones is drifting away, Frattesi is suspended between staying and leaving, and Inter Milan wait for the move that could unlock the entire domino effect.
