Possible changes in midfield and attack as Chivu weighs options before the break

From Appiano Gentile come the latest updates ahead of Inter Milan’s Serie A match against Cremonese this afternoon at San Siro, the last game before the international break.

According to Sky Sport's via Fcinter1908 correspondent, “Up front there’s a battle between Bonny and Pio Esposito. They have different characteristics, which would lead to two equally interesting tactical approaches.”

However, the real news could be elsewhere. Which one? The possible benching of Calhanoglu.

The Turkish midfielder took a knock in the Champions League and may not feature. In that case, Barella could be deployed as a deep-lying playmaker, with Frattesi ready to start on the right side of midfield. Alternatively, Sucic could be chosen, having already played in that role and offering continuity.

Barella has already replaced Calhanoglu once this season, during the opening match when the Turkish international was suspended.

If Calhanoglu is fully fit, he will play. Otherwise, Barella, with his mix of quality and intensity, can step in and guarantee balance in the middle of the pitch.

Chivu balances fitness, rotation, and tactical options

With Bonny and Pio Esposito pushing for minutes in attack and questions over Calhanoglu’s availability, Cristian Chivu faces important lineup decisions.

For Inter Milan, it’s not just about beating Cremonese but also about managing resources ahead of the international break.
