Arsenal and Bayern overtaken as Nerazzurri lead the race

At just 17 years old, Vasilije Kostov has already drawn attention from several top European clubs. Among the most interested is Inter Milan.

As previously reported by FcInter1908.it, the Nerazzurri have been closely monitoring the Red Star Belgrade midfielder.

Now, according to English outlet Sports Boom, Inter Milan are on the verge of securing Kostov after moving ahead of major competitors such as Arsenal and Bayern Munich.

“The young midfielder has attracted interest from several European heavyweights — including Arsenal and Bayern Munich — but Inter Milan now appear very close to completing the deal.

The transfer could exceed €20 million (£17 million approx.), with agent Nikola Kolarov heavily involved in facilitating the move,” the report states.

Gentleman’s agreement and growing optimism for Kostov

Sources close to the negotiations speak of a “gentleman’s agreement” already in place to bring the Serbian talent to San Siro, despite late attempts from other European clubs to intervene.

Nikola Kolarov is said to have given Inter Milan the green light to launch their final push for the 2008-born prospect’s signature.

However, convincing Red Star will require an investment exceeding €20 million (£17 million approx.).

Red Star general director Zvezdan Terzić has confirmed receiving offers of that magnitude from unspecified European sides.

Backing the operation is also Aleksandar Kolarov, currently serving as Inter Milan’s assistant coach, who is a strong admirer of the youngster and eager to see the club finalize the agreement quickly.

Kostov made his senior debut for the Serbian national team last November against Albania and is widely regarded as one of the most promising prospects in Balkan football.

Often compared in style to Pedri of FC Barcelona, he progressed through Red Star’s academy before making his first-team debut in April 2025.

For Inter Milan, this is not just a transfer. It is an investment in tomorrow’s midfield heartbeat.
