Inter Milan eyes Rovella, but Calhanoglu’s €40M price tag stalls Galatasaray’s bid
Hakan Calhanoglu’s future at Inter Milan is not as certain as it once seemed. Reports from Turkey suggest Galatasaray is increasingly confident in its pursuit.
"Inter Milan is eyeing Rovella. He's perhaps the first name on a list that includes Ricci and Ederson—valuable and expensive options—should the right offer come for Calhanoglu."
That’s how Corriere dello Sport opens its piece on Inter Milan’s midfield transfer market.
However, Rovella appears set to stay at Lazio, despite a potential €50 million (£42.6 million) release clause—€17 million (£ 14.4 million) of which would go to Juventus.
“Time will be needed for two specific reasons, in addition to the midfielder’s own wishes if Inter Milan’s interest becomes concrete.
Oaktree’s financial constraints are strict. Galatasaray has offered €15 million (£12.7 million) for Calhanoglu. That’s not enough.

Inter Milan wants €40 million (£34 million) for the Turkish playmaker, or else they will keep him, as they lack the budget to reinvest in the position.”
Before the Club World Cup wraps up, nothing major is likely to happen. Should Calhanoglu stay, things might shift only if major offers come in for Alessandro Bastoni or Nicolò Barella.
Bastoni, even before the Champions League final, was on Al-Hilal’s radar. However, he showed no interest in a move to Saudi Arabia, and Inter Milan did not entertain any official bids.
From childhood fan to potential signing: Rovella on Inter Milan’s radar
But there’s no doubt that Rovella is in the thoughts of Inter Milan’s directors, Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio.
According to some reports, in a possible negotiation with Lazio, Inter Milan may attempt to include Kristjan Asllani as part of the deal.
That said, the idea is still far from materializing, and currently, there’s no room to maneuver.
As Corriere dello Sport via Fcinter1908 adds, Rovella was a childhood fan of Inter Milan. Should the opportunity arise, the choice might not be as simple as it seems.
