A sensational twist in Inter Milan’s transfer market plans was revealed in recent weeks by Fabrizio Romano: a surprising swap deal was ready in Italy but never materialized.

The well-known journalist explained that before the change on the bench, Inter Milan were seriously considering a high-profile swap involving Giacomo Raspadori and Davide Frattesi.

"We can reveal that if Simone Inzaghi had stayed at Inter Milan, one of the names on the list was Giacomo Raspadori.

Had he remained, the chances of seeing Raspadori in black and blue would have been very high, in a deal involving Davide Frattesi," Romano stated.

The proposed deal made tactical sense under Inzaghi, who was looking for a more flexible second striker capable of playing between the lines — a role perfectly suited to Raspadori’s profile. 

In contrast, Antonio Conte, now at Napoli, views Frattesi as a key figure in rebuilding his midfield with dynamism and pressing intensity.

The fact that both players are Italian, young, and already established in Serie A made the idea of a swap appealing to both clubs — at least on paper. 

But as Romano revealed, the scenario collapsed the moment Inter Milan opted to change managerial direction.

Now, with the new vision in place and different tactical priorities, that plan is off the table — but it remains one of the great what-ifs of the Italian summer transfer window.
