The words of Simone Inzaghi after the Coppa Italia derby. Inter Milan's journey in the Coppa Italia ends in the semifinals.

Simone Inzaghi’s comments after the game:

“We're sorry for our fans who were here in large numbers once again tonight, but that’s football.

Milan played a great match, and for us, there's regret about the first half: we weren’t sharp enough in taking advantage of our chances, then they scored the first goal and we needed to be more focused.

In the second half, we conceded from a corner kick and didn't play as well as we did in the first.

We're not used to losing two games in a row, and we need to analyze this properly. In Bologna, we played a good game—we didn’t deserve to lose.

Tonight, their second goal changed the momentum; we had a chance with De Vrij that could have reopened the match. We weren’t lucky, but in games like this, I, first and foremost, had to do more.

Now we must move forward. Yes, there's physical and mental fatigue, but we must be stronger than that. We are Inter Milan. We chose this path, which has brought us many joys and satisfactions—and some disappointments like tonight. We had to do better, but unfortunately, we lacked in key moments.

Fatigue is inevitable, but it cannot be an excuse.

We have to play big games and we had to be better. We've had a more demanding schedule and we wanted to reach the final—this defeat hurts, but we had to do more to get there.

It will be crucial now to reset and start again. A mature team must respond to moments like this, and I’m sure we will.

It’s April 24, and we know the last month is the most challenging. We need to keep going with a lot of belief, together with our fans and the club who are always with us. Tonight didn’t go our way—we’ll analyze it and try to recover to give our best against Roma on Sunday.”
