The Spanish newspaper Marca also dedicated a piece to Inter Milan’s victory in Munich.

And the headline is quite telling: “Inter Milan conquers Munich and proves it is much more than just an outsider in this Champions League.”

"Until now, few considered Inter Milan a real contender to win the 2024-25 Champions League

A team capable of surprising, yes, but not a 'serious contender.' Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, Arsenal, or even Bayern themselves — partly because the final will be played in Munich — seemed to have better chances.

Yet Inzaghi’s team, quietly and without making much noise, stormed the Allianz Arena with a valuable 1-2 victory thanks to Lautaro Martínez and Frattesi.

Only three goals conceded in the entire competition and a solidity few can boast. They leave Munich with a win — and the ambition to return there on May 31."

Clinical and effective Inter Milan

"The first half was like a story in three acts. It started off calmly, with Inter Milan slowing the tempo through ball possession.

But after the first ten minutes, Bayern woke up thanks to Olise’s bursts of speed, which ignited the German attack and changed the face of the match.

Sommer had to make four crucial saves to keep his team in it, with the French talent in top form.

However, the biggest chance — the one that woke up Inter Milan — came from a lightning-fast Bavarian counterattack and a shot from Kane that incredibly hit the post.

That was all it took to spark the Nerazzurri. And that’s when the third phase of the first half began: Inter Milan took control of the ball and proved to be superior to Bayern. The Germans couldn’t even get close to the ball. The first sign came from Carlos Augusto, with a shot into the side netting. But Inter Milan didn’t forgive after that chance.

In the 37th minute, Lautaro Martínez scored the 0-1 with a textbook move. A clean buildup, patiently constructed from their own half, then the acceleration: Bastoni to Carlos Augusto, the Brazilian crossed it in, and Thuram’s brilliant backheel touch freed the ball in the box.

Lautaro finished it superbly with the outside of his foot. The 'Bull’s' seventh goal in this Champions League.

The script continued at the start of the second half: Inter Milan dominated, forced Bayern to chase, and seemed in full control.

Lautaro even had a chance to double the lead but wasted it. And that’s when Inter Milan made a mistake: dropping back too much, giving Bayern space and the initiative.

Bayern responded with pride and character. The entrance of Müller — always generous — brought a spark.

And the veteran, after several attempts, found the draw by capitalizing on a great pass from Laimer.

Perhaps his last Champions League goal in a Bayern shirt. But Inter Milan still had an ace up their sleeve.

They played it right after conceding the 1-1: a perfect counterattack, textbook stuff, with precise passes that broke through the German lines.

Another low assist from Carlos Augusto, this time to Davide Frattesi, who made no mistake. 1-2 and Inter Milan back in the lead.

A narrow advantage (away goals no longer count double), but one that might be enough ahead of the return leg next week at the Giuseppe Meazza.

Inter Milan shows that even if people aren’t talking about them much, they are one of the true contenders for the Champions League 2024-25 title."
