Inter Milan beat Parma 2-0 and move four points clear ahead of Napoli showdown
A 2-0 win, first place in the table and a four-point lead over Napoli just days before the head-to-head clash at San Siro on January 11.
Inter Milan strengthened their grip on the top spot with goals from Federico Dimarco and Marcus Thuram in a convincing performance away at Parma.
Dimarco’s opener was initially ruled out for an offside that later proved to be non-existent, with the goal awarded after a VAR review.
Thuram then sealed the win, finding the net after an earlier goal had been disallowed for a handball in the build-up that had led to Ange-Yoan Bonny’s finish from a Nicolò Barella assist.
It was a mature, controlled victory for the Nerazzurri, patiently built in the fog and freezing temperatures of the Tardini.
After the final whistle, Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu spoke to Sky Sport via Fcinter1908, reflecting on the match and the team’s mentality.
Chivu on the performance and the importance of winning
“You always have to prove yourself, especially on a pitch that isn’t easy to play on. We delivered a serious, mature performance. We tried to be dominant, and it’s never easy when the opposition defend with ten men behind the ball.
In the end, what always matters most is the victory and the attitude of the players, which was exceptional.”
On the upcoming clash with Napoli and the league standings
Asked about the significance of the four-point lead and the upcoming direct clash, Chivu remained cautious:
“Statistics are nice to read, but what really counts is the team’s attitude, the ambition and the desire to carry forward a season where expectations are high. There are no matches you can underestimate. The dangers are always just around the corner.”

On the tactical challenges of the match
“Every risky pass, every interception, they can immediately break forward. They have pace with their attacking players. We did well not to concede too much on the counter.
We could have been more patient at times, delivered more quality crosses, and executed them better.”
On the defensive work and Akanji’s leadership
“Akanji, just like Bisseck, Acerbi, De Vrij and Carlos, played a great match. Carlos, in particular, handled the pace well and covered every space.
It’s not easy to play against a low block. You have to keep your concentration at the highest level.
When you move the ball around, sometimes you risk becoming complacent and exposing yourself to dangerous situations. From an attitude point of view, I’m very satisfied.”
Once again, Inter Milan’s focus, patience and collective mentality proved decisive.
