From Pavard to Esposito, Inter Milan evaluate every loan spell

The first part of the 2025–26 season is in the books, and Inter Milan are already taking stock — including those players currently out on loan.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via Fcinter1908, six Nerazzurri are under close observation: Benjamin Pavard, Kristjan Asllani, Franco and Valentin Carboni, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, and Sebastiano Esposito.
Together, they could generate close to €40 million (£34 million) in potential transfer value. For some, the path points toward a permanent farewell; for others, Inter Milan hope to see growth before a return to San Siro next season.

Pavard finds stability in France

After a turbulent period in Milan, Benjamin Pavard seems reborn in Ligue 1 under Roberto De Zerbi. The French defender, on loan to Marseille with an option to buy for €15 million (£12.8 million), has already become a key figure in the team’s backline. Having featured in both domestic and European fixtures, Pavard looks settled — and Marseille are reportedly ready to activate their purchase option.

Asllani’s revival at Torino

For Kristjan Asllani, the loan spell at Torino has offered a fresh start. The Albanian midfielder has rediscovered his rhythm and confidence, integrating quickly into Ivan Jurić’s system. His deal includes a purchase option around €12 million (£10.3 million) plus a future resale percentage, leaving his long-term future open.

Valentin Carboni’s growth mission at Genoa

The younger Carboni brother, Valentin, was loaned to Genoa with a unique goal — to gain consistent Serie A minutes.

Inter Milan even agreed to a performance bonus clause that could see Genoa earn up to €1 million (£850,000) depending on his appearances. There’s no purchase option involved, confirming Inter Milan’s long-term faith in the Argentine playmaker.

Sebastiano Esposito: future away from Milan?

Sebastiano Esposito’s deal with Cagliari is structured as a loan with an obligation to buy for €4 million (£3.4 million) and a 40% resale clause for Inter Milan on any future profit. The complex arrangement suggests a likely permanent exit from the club, in contrast to his younger brother Pio, now seen as part of Inter Milan’s future core.

Akinsanmiro impressing in Pisa

After an initial adjustment period, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro has become a vital part of Alberto Gilardino’s Pisa midfield.

The Nigerian is on loan with a €6 million (£5.1 million) buy option, but Inter Milan retain a counter-option to repurchase him immediately — a clear sign that they still believe in his long-term potential.

Franco Carboni: future still uncertain

The elder Carboni, Franco, is currently on loan at Empoli under a conditional obligation to buy clause. His progress has been steady, but the club’s final decision will depend on meeting certain performance conditions. Should Empoli trigger the clause, Franco’s time as an Inter Milan player would officially come to an end.

Inter Milan’s strategy is clear — balance financial sustainability with sporting growth. Between permanent sales, repurchase clauses, and developmental loans, the club is shaping a new generation of players while maintaining flexibility for the future.
