No postponement: Inter Milan accept Sunday slot vs Roma
Despite seeking a postponement, Inter Milan agree to play Roma on Sunday to avoid controversy ahead of their Champions League clash with Barcelona

Despite seeking a postponement, Inter Milan agree to play Roma on Sunday to avoid controversy ahead of their Champions League clash with Barcelona.
After a full day of discussions between institutions and Serie A officials, Inter Milan–Roma has ultimately been rescheduled for Sunday at 15:00 CEST, despite Inter Milan's request to postpone the match to May in order to better prepare for the Champions League semifinal against Barcelona.
“However, the Serie A board did not deem it appropriate—just five matchdays from the end—to have a standings table with an asterisk,” writes Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera via Fcinter1908.it.
Some also pointed out that it wouldn’t have been fair for Bastoni and Mkhitaryan to serve their suspensions against Verona on May 3 instead of in the match against Roma.
As a compromise, the league proposed keeping the match on Saturday but moving the kickoff to 20:45 CEST.

League President Simonelli had already secured a government waiver to allow this. In the end, Inter President Beppe Marotta, after consulting with coach Simone Inzaghi, decided to decline the offer in order to respect the national mourning period.
The feeling is that Inter Milan turned it down to avoid becoming the target of accusations of favoritism.
Still, the fact remains: Inter Milan will be the first Italian club ever to play on a Sunday before a Champions League semifinal.
Meanwhile, Barcelona will face Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final on Saturday night.
