Inter Milan leave Saudi Arabia with frustration but no sense of crisis after the defeat to Bologna

Inter Milan departed from Riyadh this morning, leaving Saudi Arabia to return to Italy following last night’s disappointment against Bologna.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via Fcinter1908, the mood within the squad was somber but controlled:

“At departure, there were tired and disappointed faces throughout the entire group, from the players to the coaching staff and the club’s executives.

However, there was no desire to dramatize the situation, despite the strong and shared anger over the defeat.

There was no theatrical confrontation, and nothing of the sort is planned today either. In short, despite the sadness of the moment, there is no sense of an impending storm.”

Disappointment without drama, but questions remain

The Nerazzurri had placed significant importance on this trophy, hoping it would break a spell that has lasted for a year and a half.

The last title won by Inter Milan was the Serie A championship for the second star, celebrated in May 2024, a triumph that now risks fading into memory.

What weighs most heavily on the squad’s morale is the manner in which this seventh defeat of the season arrived, a number universally considered too high.

The real issue is the recurring pattern: in matches that matter, Inter Milan too often see games unfold in the same way.

Chances are created, control is maintained without enough sharpness, key opportunities or decisive passes are missed, and eventually the price is paid.

In short, a higher step is required. Inter Milan need to raise their level, quickly and decisively, and move up to the next rung.
