The big defensive signing will definitely arrive in the summer. But according to La Gazzetta dello Sport via Fcinter1908, Inter Milan could intervene in another area of the pitch as early as January.

The newspaper reports that Chivu has asked the club to make an effort to strengthen the midfield with a dynamic profile — the name is Morten Frendrup from Genoa.

Chivu’s request: energy and balance in midfield

La Gazzetta” writes:
Inter Milan have understood how and where to intervene to improve the squad already in the January transfer window.

While waiting to choose the goalkeeper and central defender of the future — two unavoidable purchases in 2026 — Chivu has sensed the lack of a balancing element precisely in the most crowded department: the midfield.

In the summer, not by chance, Marotta and Ausilio had tried to snatch Manu Koné from Roma, coming very close to a deal, convinced they could add to the squad a player with above-average physical and athletic qualities.

Then they turned to Andy Diouf, an investment for the future who has not yet made an impact in the present.

But the idea remains: around 20 million euros (about £17 million) are available, and the operation is one to be seriously considered.

And so, the extra man could become Morten Frendrup, a Danish midfielder born in 2001, already scouted in recent months. He is not the only option, of course, but his name has never been removed from the list of favourites.”
