The words of the Nerazzurri captain, who scored a spectacular goal against Genoa and was named MVP of the match at the Ferraris.

Another great performance, another display worthy of a true captain. Lautaro Martinez fought for every ball on the pitch against Genoa, showing great sacrifice, determination, and grit. 

The Inter Milan captain led his teammates to victory by example. The numbers confirm an outstanding performance by “El Toro”: in addition to a superb left-footed goal, he engaged in eight duels with opponents and recovered an impressive eleven balls.

Named MVP of the match, Lautaro spoke in the post-match interviews, commenting on the Nerazzurri victory as follows:

Bisseck and Zielinski: goals, character, and awareness after a tough away win

“Not all matches are easy. We knew playing in this stadium would be difficult, but we did well even though we suffered. We are happy with the win.
The goal? It finally arrived. I always want to help the team score, but today I am very happy that I did it myself. The most important thing is the victory. This season I had already tried shooting with my left foot, even against Liverpool. Today it worked, but the important thing was winning. We suffered a bit, but sometimes you have to win like this.
I am not thinking about the World Cup, even if I hope for it. I want to help the team and today it went well. I am happy. We played a good match. The goal is a mix of skill and luck, but I am certainly happy to have helped the team. It is always nice to score early, but we knew the opponent was difficult. We dominated the match, it is only a shame about the goal conceded. We still have to improve, but for tonight we are happy.”

Yann Bisseck added:

“It is never easy to win here. We showed character, quality, and grit, and we take home three very important points. Today it was essential to win after the Champions League defeat. We had to respond and give continuity to our positive league results, and that is what we did.
The important thing is feeling good. Here everyone feels important. I am calm and I can play the way I know how. The guys always help me because we are a great team. This is a victory of character. After conceding, there was a moment of inattention, but we were good at avoiding further risks and securing a fundamental win.
Being first is always nice, but there are many matches left and we need consistency to win as many as possible. We have everything it takes to finish the season on top, but there is still a long way to go.
Bisseck’s goal? I was around the edge of the box waiting for the ball, but if he scores like that, we are all happy. Since I arrived at Inter Milan I was never at 100 percent because of injuries and a lack of continuity, but I stayed calm. I knew that this year I could show my qualities, so I thank the coach for the trust he gave me. It is always great to see Inter Milan in first place, but we know there are many games to win and moments of suffering ahead. Today was an opportunity we could not miss, and we achieved a great victory on a difficult pitch.”
