Several names have been circulating in recent weeks regarding the right-wing position at Inter Milan, but only one profile is truly being considered by the club. The rest, for now, are little more than transfer suggestions.
This is revealed by Pasquale Guarro on calciomercato.com via Fcinter1908, who offered a detailed update on Inter Milan’s search for a new wide player.
Dumfries injury and rising expectations
Expectations around Oaktree are extremely high, especially after the injury to Denzel Dumfries, one of the standout players in the Inter Milan squad.
The Dutch full-back is expected to be sidelined until March, making it natural to assume that Cristian Chivu could request a reinforcement on the right side.
That need becomes even clearer when considering that Luis Henrique, seven months after his arrival, has yet to perform at the level demanded by a club like Inter Milan.
Names ruled out and costly options
According to Guarro, most of the players mentioned so far are not real objectives. Raoul Bellanova is not a target for Inter Milan, nor has Brooke Norton-Cuffy ever been on the club’s shortlist.
Marco Palestra is a different case. The Atalanta wing-back is highly appreciated by the Inter Milan management, but attempting to sign him now would likely require an investment of around €40 million (£34.5m). A deal considered extremely difficult to complete at this stage.
The real profile Inter Milan are seeking
Keeping the squad’s weaknesses firmly in mind, Inter Milan are looking for a very specific type of player: a Perisic-style profile.
The ideal signing would be a footballer with a powerful engine, technical ability to operate as a winger and beat his man, but also the physical and athletic traits needed to cover the entire flank.
Finding such a player is anything but easy. And that is why, despite the many names circulating, only one true target remains firmly in Inter Milan’s sights.
