AS Roma must raise major funds by June, with Inter Milan watching Manu Koné closely

There’s a ticking clock in Rome, and it’s counting in millions.

AS Roma must generate €80 million (about £69 million) in capital gains by June 30, a target tied to the settlement agreement signed with UEFA back in 2022. A financial mountain that has been looming for months and now demands action.

Sponsors offer breathing space

The club has already started gathering resources beyond the pitch.

Thanks to the work of CRO Gandler, two new sponsorship deals have been secured: one with Wizz Air, bringing in €2 million (about £1.7 million), and another with Eurobet.live, adding an initial €8 million (about £6.9 million).

Further income could arrive from the agreement between Lega Serie A and IMG, potentially worth around €15 million (about £13 million) for Roma.

Yet even with these inflows, the absence from the UEFA Champions League since the 2018/2019 season continues to weigh heavily on the club’s finances.

Sales become inevitable

Sporting director Frederic Massara is already working behind the scenes to shape outgoing deals.

Several players could leave:

  • Tommaso Baldanzi is expected to be redeemed for €10 million (about £8.6 million), generating a modest profit.
  • Anass Salah-Eddine could move to PSV Eindhoven for around €8 million (about £6.9 million).
  • Additional funds may come from departures of Eldor Shomurodov and Angeliño.

But smaller deals won’t be enough. One major sale appears inevitable.

Koné on Inter Milan radar

Among the big names, Mile Svilar, Evan Ndicka, and especially Manu Koné could be sacrificed.

Koné, in particular, is attracting strong interest from Inter Milan, who see him as a potential reinforcement in midfield.

AS Roma’s valuation stands at around €45 million (about £39 million), and he is currently the most likely candidate for a high-profile exit.

AS Roma’s summer will be less about ambition and more about balance sheets.

Between sponsorship deals, strategic sales, and one likely headline departure, the club is navigating a financial puzzle where every move must fit perfectly… or risk the clock striking midnight.
