Inter Milan shift transfer focus to defence and midfield

Lookman was once the top target, but Inter Milan now see reinforcing defence and midfield as more urgent

Inter Milan have changed their strategy. According to checks made by FCINTER1908.IT, a central defender and a midfielder will one hundred percent arrive, while for the striker the club will wait for a possible opportunity.

If earlier the Inter Milan directors seemed very keen to target Lookman (for whom a total offer of 45 million euros (£38.5m) was made and then rejected by Atalanta) to strengthen the attack, now the focus will be more on other roles. A reinforcement in defence and one in midfield have now become more urgent matters.

In recent hours, there had been talk of Kim (who left Tottenham) for the Inter Milan defence, but the profile the club is aiming for in Via della Liberazione seems to point towards a younger defender.

Another issue has also been raised in recent days: the possibility that Piero Ausilio, sporting director of Inter Milan, could leave Milan to work with Al-Hilal. 

From what has been verified, there are three profiles on the Saudi club’s table: one from Liverpool, one from Chelsea and that of the Inter Milan director. 

The executive has opened up to dialogue, and then it will have to be understood whether he will indeed be the choice of the Arab club, which could propose to him a contract worth 4 to 5 million euros (£3.4m–£4.3m) per year. 

At that point, Inter Milan could choose a new sporting director or directly promote Dario Baccin.
