Inter Milan target Vicario as Top choice for goalkeeper role

Inter Milan are already planning for the future of their goalkeeping department, and one name has emerged above the rest: Guglielmo Vicario.

The Italian goalkeeper, currently playing for Tottenham Hotspur, is reportedly among the top targets for Inter ahead of the summer transfer window.

Romano: Vicario among Inter Milan’s top three targets

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed on his YouTube channel that Vicario is firmly on Inter Milan’s shortlist.

According to Romano, the 28-year-old is one of the top three names being considered by the Nerazzurri to replace their current starting goalkeeper. Contacts between the parties have already taken place, and Vicario is believed to be heading for a departure from Tottenham at the end of the season.

Romano explained that Inter Milan are continuing to work intensively on the deal and that Vicario is currently the leading candidate to become the club’s new number one.

Sommer’s future still open

The potential arrival of Vicario would also raise questions about the future of Yann Sommer.

One possibility being considered is that Sommer could remain at the club as the backup goalkeeper. 

However, this scenario has not yet been formally communicated to the Swiss veteran, and much will depend on whether he would be willing to accept a secondary role behind Vicario.

Moretto confirms Inter Milan’s strong interest

Journalist Matteo Moretto has also confirmed the situation, stating that Vicario has long been Inter Milan’s primary target for the position.

While the club has explored other options for the goalkeeping role, Vicario gradually emerged as the clear favourite. 

Contacts are ongoing, and Inter Milan are reportedly determined to push forward and try to complete the deal.

If the move materialises, Vicario could become the cornerstone of Inter Milan’s next cycle between the posts as the club prepares for a new era in goal.
