Marcus Thuram faces an uncertain future at Inter Milan despite a long-term contract and strong market interest

Every transfer window has its turning points, and this summer could place Marcus Thuram right at the center of one.

Inter Milan are preparing for a potentially transformative market, with multiple departures and arrivals expected as the club reshapes its squad. 

Among the players whose future is under scrutiny is Thuram, coming off a season that has fallen well short of expectations.

Despite being tied to Inter Milan until 2028, the French forward’s situation is far from settled. 

His contract includes a release clause set at €85 million (£72.7 million), a figure that has already attracted interest from clubs in the Premier League and from Paris Saint-Germain in the past.

A strategic choice for Inter Milan

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Alfredo Pedullà outlined a possible scenario that Inter Milan could seriously consider.

If the club decides to build around Pio Esposito, Thuram could become a valuable asset to sell, generating a significant capital gain. Even a fee slightly below the release clause would represent a major financial boost.

That income could then be reinvested into reshaping the attacking department.

A new-look attack on the horizon

The idea would be to construct a more balanced forward line.

Alongside Lautaro Martínez and Pio Esposito, Inter Milan are also considering profiles like Bonny, while adding a fourth attacker with different characteristics, more dynamic and versatile, similar to the type of player targeted last summer, such as Ademola Lookman.

In this vision, Thuram’s departure wouldn’t just be a sale, it would be a tactical reset.

The crossroads is clear.

Keep Thuram and hope he rediscovers his best form, or sell at the right moment and reshape the attack with new energy.
