Another stumble for Inter Milan as Fiorentina claw their way back, cancelling out an early lead by Pio Esposito

Momentum slipped through Inter Milan’s fingers once more in Florence, where Fiorentina battled back to secure a deserved draw in Matchday 30 of Serie A.

The Nerazzurri struck first through Pio Esposito, who capped off a strong opening spell with a confident finish.

Inter Milan looked sharp, aggressive, and eager to settle the contest early. But as the match unfolded, their grip loosened.

Fiorentina gradually grew into the game and found their reward in the second half. Cher Ndour reacted quickest after Yann Sommer parried an effort from Harrison, capitalizing on a costly turnover near the edge of the box by Nicolò Barella.

The result tightens the race at the top, with AC Milan and Napoli closing the gap. Inter Milan now face a crucial stretch after the international break, hosting Roma before traveling to face Como.

Speaking after the match to Inter Milan’s official channel, Esposito offered a grounded and honest reflection:

“Fiorentina played a great game and the result is fair. Right now it’s hard to say what we lacked, but they deserved it.”

The young forward downplayed any personal spotlight, focusing instead on collective effort:

“I don’t feel like a leader, I feel like a player who gives everything on the pitch for this team and this group.”

He highlighted Inter Milan’s strong start but acknowledged the shift in momentum:

“We began very strongly with the right attitude and showed our desire to win immediately. Then Fiorentina grew into the game, took control, and earned the equalizer.”

Looking ahead, Esposito’s focus briefly shifts to international duty:

“The national team? I’m going with great motivation to achieve something important. From tomorrow, I’ll start thinking about it.”
