After winning the Scudetto, Inter Milan now stands one step away from a historic domestic double under Cristian Chivu
Only a few hours remain before Lazio and Inter Milan step onto the pitch to battle for the Coppa Italia.
Fresh from securing the Serie A title, Cristian Chivu’s Inter Milan is now chasing a domestic double that the club has not achieved since the legendary 2010 season.
As highlighted by Tuttosport:
“Winning both the Scudetto and the Coppa Italia guarantees a place in history.
Tonight, Cristian Chivu, in his first full season as a first-team coach, could enter history twice over, considering no Inter Milan manager has ever completed such a double in their debut season on the bench.”
From 2010 echoes to Lautaro’s leadership: history circles the Olimpico again
Lazio, however, has its own motivations and memories.
The Biancocelesti last lifted the Coppa Italia in 2019 under Simone Inzaghi, defeating Atalanta.

According to Tuttosport, Lazio could now recreate a scenario similar to August 2009 in Beijing, when Davide Ballardini’s side managed to snatch the Supercoppa from the future Treble-winning Inter Milan, preventing the Nerazzurri from sweeping every trophy.
There are striking similarities with that historic 2010 campaign.
Back then, Inter Milan also played a league match at the Olimpico shortly before the Coppa Italia final.
Diego Milito delivered the decisive blow against Roma, allowing Javier Zanetti to lift the trophy for the Nerazzurri.
Now, Lautaro Martinez seems to embody both Argentine legends at once: captain and goalscorer, leader and finisher.
And tonight, he is expected to reunite with Marcus Thuram in attack after the Frenchman’s late recovery from injury concerns.
Meanwhile, Lazio supporters are set to fully occupy the Curva Nord again after temporarily pausing protests against president Claudio Lotito.
The last time that happened was against AC Milan in Serie A, a match widely considered one of Lazio’s best performances of the season.
Which is exactly why, despite Inter Milan’s momentum and championship glow, the final remains completely open.
Under the Roman night sky, history waits again at the Olimpico.
And Inter Milan stands ninety minutes away from touching another golden chapter.
