Future between the posts: Suzuki catches Inter Milan’s eyes
Goalkeeper market frenzy in Serie A Inter Milan included
The Italian top flight is buzzing with rumors as several clubs hunt for a new man between the posts. AC Milan and Inter Milan are among them, with the latter possibly saying goodbye to Yann Sommer at the end of the season.
And according to La Gazzetta dello Sport via Fcinter1908, a surprising name has entered the conversation: Zion Suzuki, the young Japanese goalkeeper currently impressing at Parma.
The Suzuki factor: from Japan to Serie A stardom
AC Milan are said to be considering the Japanese international, who arrived in Italy just a year ago and quickly stood out for his composure, reflexes, and ball-playing skills. His long passes — powerful and precise — have made him a modern goalkeeper perfectly suited to today’s tactical demands.
Curiously, Christian Chivu, during his experience working with Parma, witnessed Suzuki’s talent firsthand — a connection that now brings the keeper’s name onto both AC Milan and Inter Milan’s radar.
If Sommer does leave Inter Milan at the end of the campaign, the chain reaction could make Suzuki one of the most sought-after goalkeepers in Italy.
Parma, however, are not expected to let him go easily. Owner Kyle Krause invested €8 million (≈ £6.8 m) just a year ago, and now the club reportedly values him around €20 million (≈ £17 m) — a hefty price tag for a position not usually known for record-breaking fees.

Who Is Zion Suzuki?
Born on August 21, 2002, in Newark, New Jersey (USA) to a Ghanaian-American father and Japanese mother, Zion Suzuki grew up in Japan and rose through the academy of Urawa Red Diamonds.
At 1.90 meters tall, he blends athletic power with technical finesse. After making his professional debut with Urawa, he spent time on loan at Sint-Truiden VV in Belgium before joining Parma Calcio 1913 in July 2024 on a long-term deal through 2029.
He’s already a full Japan international, praised for his calm under pressure and ability to start play from the back — qualities that align perfectly with what Inter Milan are looking for in their next number one.
A glimpse of the future
As the transfer window approaches, all eyes are on Suzuki — not just as a promising young goalkeeper, but as a potential cornerstone for AC Milan or Inter Milan’s future.
At 23, he represents the perfect mix of youth, technique, and international experience, and his story — from the streets of Japan to Serie A spotlights — could soon take its next leap onto one of Italy’s biggest stages.
