SportMediaset reports growing attention on the Dutch wing-back ahead of next season

The right-wing-back situation remains a central topic at Inter Milan, not only for the present but also with an eye on the future.

According to SportMediaset via Fcinter1908, the issue could resurface strongly at the end of the season, even once Denzel Dumfries has fully recovered from his injury.

The Dutch international, whose contract includes a release clause, is reportedly still firmly on the radar of both Barcelona and Manchester City.

Two European heavyweights are said to be monitoring his situation closely, potentially preparing moves later in the year.

Barcelona and City see Dumfries as a key piece

Despite the arrival of João Cancelo, Barcelona remain convinced that Dumfries would be the ideal solution to strengthen the right side of Hansi Flick’s defensive setup. His physical presence and attacking drive are viewed as decisive qualities for that role.

Manchester City share a similar appreciation. Pep Guardiola reportedly sees Dumfries as the right profile to reinforce an area of the pitch that has yet to find a true long-term replacement for Kyle Walker.

While Inter Milan wait to understand how the situation around Ivan Perišić will evolve, the club are also dealing with interest in Luis Henrique. The Brazilian has been used as Dumfries’ replacement so far, but his performances have not fully convinced.

As a result, despite previously ruling out a January exit, Inter Milan are now reconsidering Bournemouth’s offer and could be open to selling Luis Henrique on a permanent basis.

A sign that the Nerazzurri are reassessing their options, aware that the right flank could soon become one of the most delicate areas of their squad planning.
