Romano: Inter Milan monitoring Goretzka as Calhanoglu future uncertain

Contract talks with Turkish midfielder currently stalled

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has shared updates on the future of Inter Milan’s midfield during a video published on his YouTube channel.

According to Romano, the Nerazzurri remain interested in Leon Goretzka, although the situation has not progressed in recent weeks.

Romano explained that Inter Milan’s interest in the German midfielder is real, but the situation is still in an early stage.

“We’ve already spoken about Inter Milan’s interest in Leon Goretzka, but at the moment there are no developments. 

There are also English clubs interested, and we’re not yet at the stage where decisions are being made.”

Calhanoglu contract talks at a standstill

Romano also provided an update on the future of Hakan Calhanoglu, whose contract situation with Inter currently remains unresolved.

“From a contractual point of view, negotiations over Calhanoglu’s renewal are completely stalled for now.”

The journalist added that the coming months could be decisive for the Turkish midfielder’s future at the club.

“Either Inter Milan and the player move toward a contract extension, or if nothing happens in the next few months there is a strong possibility that the two sides could part ways. It’s a concrete scenario and a separation could seriously be considered.”

Future still open

For now, the situation remains uncertain. While Inter Milan continue to evaluate possible midfield options for the future, the likelihood of Calhanoglu staying at the club appears to be gradually decreasing unless talks resume soon.
