After the derby defeat against AC Milan, Inter Milan returned immediately to training at Appiano Gentile, turning attention to the Saturday clash with Atalanta.

“Recently Inter Milan have suffered from absences, which inevitably affected the derby against AC Milan.

Step by step, Chivu will bring back the most influential players,” reports La Gazzetta dello Sport via Fcinter1908.

Inter Milan players returning from injury

Marcus Thuram – Excluded from the derby due to tonsillitis, Thuram is expected to return in attack, likely partnering Pio Esposito.

Denzel Dumfries – After limited minutes to regain match fitness, Dumfries is preparing for his first start in over four months.

Hakan Calhanoglu – Set to return along with Lautaro, but the Turkish midfielder experienced a minor adductor issue.

Medical checks at Humanitas Rozzano confirmed a small lesion that should not prevent his comeback on 22 March in Florence.

Alessandro Bastoni – Suffered a strong contusion to the tibia during a foul on Adrien Rabiot. X-rays ruled out fractures, but the pain persists.

Chivu may call him for the Atalanta game, with Carlos Augusto warming up as a precaution.

Lautaro Martinez – Expected to rejoin training next week, aiming not only for the Florence trip but also the Finalissima 2026 on 27 March.

Road ahead

The Nerazzurri aim to stabilize their squad and regain momentum in Serie A, with Chivu working to have as many first-team players available as possible for the final stretch of the season.
