Inter Milan Khalaili transfer at risk as Club explores alternatives
Inter Milan are awaiting the outcome of additional medical assessments for Khalaili, while the club has already begun identifying alternative options should the transfer collapse
Inter Milan's proposed move for Anan Khalaili is hanging by a thread after concerns emerged during the final stage of the player's medical assessments in Italy.
The Nerazzurri had reached an agreement with Union Saint-Gilloise worth €25 million (approximately $29.5 million) plus bonuses, but the transfer has now stalled pending the outcome of further specialist examinations requested by Italy's Institute of Sports Medicine.
As Inter Milan's squad reports back for pre-season training under Cristian Chivu, sporting director Piero Ausilio is already preparing contingency plans in case the deal cannot be completed.
Further medical tests put transfer in jeopardy
According to reports from both Corriere della Sera and La Gazzetta dello Sport, Khalaili successfully completed Inter Milan's standard medical examinations.

However, concerns emerged during the mandatory sporting eligibility tests carried out by the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), prompting specialists to request second and third-level examinations before making a final decision.
The nature of the medical findings has not been disclosed for privacy reasons.
Italian sports medical evaluations are widely regarded as among the most rigorous in European football, with specialists often conducting additional investigations whenever even a minor concern is detected to protect an athlete's long-term health.
At this stage, reports suggest the chances of Khalaili receiving sporting clearance are becoming increasingly slim.
Inter Milan already assessing replacement options
With uncertainty surrounding the transfer, Inter Milan are not waiting passively.
According to Corriere della Sera, the club has already begun evaluating alternative targets for the right flank.
Among the names under consideration are Strasbourg defender Guéla Doué and Hellas Verona full-back Rafik Belghali, who is viewed as a more affordable option.
Should Khalaili fail to obtain sporting clearance, he is expected to return to Union Saint-Gilloise, ending what had appeared to be one of Inter Milan's biggest signings of the summer.
Despite never experiencing health issues during his professional career, the 20-year-old is reportedly already attracting interest from clubs in England, where medical eligibility requirements differ from those applied in Italy.
Inter Milan are expected to receive the final medical verdict within the next 24 to 48 hours, a decision that will determine whether the transfer can proceed or whether the Nerazzurri will be forced to turn their attention to alternative targets before the transfer window closes.
