Dumfries’ injury weighs heavily as his future gains attention abroad

The absence of Denzel Dumfries is certainly being felt. The injury suffered by the Dutchman against Lazio has deprived Cristian Chivu of one of the team’s key pillars. It’s no small problem, especially because the player who arrived in the summer to give the Dutchman a rest—Luis Henrique—is not providing the expected responses. They’ll need to grit their teeth for at least two more weeks, when Dumfries will be available again.

In the meantime, the Inter Milan club must carefully monitor the Dutchman’s situation because, according to Fabrizio Romano via Fcinter1908, several top European clubs have set their sights on the wingback ahead of next season. 

“Dumfries remains targeted by top European clubs for 2026 after his excellent performances since September 2024. 

He was voted Serie A right-back of the season and has produced 20 G/A in 2025 for club and national team, shining at Inter Milan. 

He is expected to return from injury in two weeks,” wrote the well-known transfer-market expert.
