Inter Milan took full advantage of a favorable weekend in Serie A, temporarily extending their lead over Napoli and AC Milan with a stunning 6-2 victory over Pisa at San Siro.
After a shaky start that saw the Nerazzurri concede twice, the team showcased resilience and quality to overturn the scoreline.
Cristian Chivu, speaking to InterTV via Fcinter1908 after the match, reflected on the comeback:
“For attitude and focus, we did the right things. Then came incidents that put us two goals down, but maintaining clarity and executing our plan wasn’t simple against a physical team that can pressure you when ahead.
In the second half, perhaps we could have closed the game sooner, but for the first time we overturned a two-goal deficit, and that shows our effort and growth paid off,” said the Inter Milan coach.

He added:
“A mature team knows there are moments to overcome. Even in a 0-0 scenario, we maintained our game plan and ball movement. When mistakes happen, it’s my responsibility. The players work every day to achieve our goals, and I’m proud of them.”
Chivu highlights mentality, Esposito’s determination
Speaking to DAZN, Chivu further emphasized the mental aspect of the game:
“The match lasted 100 minutes. You need to adapt. Yes, we scored an own goal and conceded on a set piece, but the team showed pride, quality, and intensity to overturn it. It matters how you react.
We could have sealed it 4-2 earlier, but the boys gave everything, and that’s what counts. Every mistake is my responsibility; the players are the protagonists when things go right.”
Chivu also praised young Pio Esposito:
“He’s eager to prove himself and put his face on the line, like all 25 players in our squad. They trust our work, and that’s commendable.”
With the victory, Inter Milan not only extend their lead in the Serie A standings but also reinforce the team’s mentality, showing they can overcome adversity and maintain their championship ambitions.
