Cristian Chivu can rely on genuine attacking alternatives, a luxury that allows him to rotate his forwards without compromising overall attacking output.

This depth has quickly proven valuable for Inter Milan, with both Pio Esposito and Ange-Yoan Bonny delivering encouraging performances from their very first appearances.

Their immediate impact gives the Romanian coach tactical flexibility and opens the door to broader reflections within Inter Milan’s attacking department.

One of the names now under closer scrutiny is Marcus Thuram. While the French forward appears slightly below his peak form, he remains a key resource within the squad.

Thuram’s future and the financial logic for Inter Milan

Calciomercato.com via Fcinter1908 has taken a closer look at Thuram’s situation, focusing not only on sporting considerations but also on the financial implications for Inter Milan.

Thuram joined Inter Milan in 2023, signing a contract worth 6 million euros net per season (around £5.1 million) plus bonuses, running until 30 June 2028.

His release clause of 75 million euros (approximately £64 million) expired on 7 July last year.

Should Inter Milan decide to sell him in the upcoming summer window, the club could reportedly ask for a fee in the region of 60–70 million euros (roughly £51–60 million).

Such an investment would be well within reach for several Premier League clubs, many of which had already shown interest in the number nine last season.

Another crucial element in the evaluation of Marcus Thuram’s future is the way he arrived at Inter Milan.

Signed on a free transfer, the club paid 8 million euros (about £6.8 million) to the player’s entourage but did not spend anything on a transfer fee.

As a result, any significant sale would translate into a substantial capital gain, strengthening Inter Milan’s balance sheet while leaving the club free to reinvest. It is a classic crossroads between sporting continuity and financial opportunity, one that Inter Milan may soon have to navigate.
