Inter Milan take the cautious route as Chivu prepares to face Roma without Marcus Thuram

Inter Milan have accepted reality: despite steady progress in his recovery, Marcus Thuram will almost certainly miss the highly anticipated October 18th clash with Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport via Fcinter1908 reports, the striker’s daily work at Appiano Gentile — medical checks, therapy sessions, and constant monitoring — has led the club to take a prudent approach.

“This time, there will be no miracle,” writes Gazzetta. “Better to respect the recovery timeline for the Frenchman’s left hamstring. Very, very unlikely that Lilian’s son will travel with the team to the capital.”

Focus shifts to Napoli

Thuram’s recovery is progressing exactly as planned, but hopes of an early return have faded after the latest round of tests.

The new target is October 25th against Napoli, a match the player is determined to be ready for — fully fit and mentally free from any fear of relapse.

If, however, his condition doesn’t improve completely, even the Maradona Stadium trip could be at risk. At present, returning against Antonio Conte’s Napoli remains possible, but not guaranteed.

“With this kind of injury,” adds Gazzetta, “the situation can change quickly — prudence must prevail.”

In that case, Thuram would also miss the Champions League trip to Brussels to face Union Saint-Gilloise, scheduled between the two key Serie A away matches.

For now, Inter Milan’s medical staff remain focused on ensuring a full recovery — not just a quick one.
