A goal to unlock the game, a goal to set the tone. Once again, Lautaro Martinez stood at the center of everything.
The captain of Inter Milan found the net first in the 2–0 away victory against Cremonese on matchday 23 of Serie A, confirming his role as leader both on and off the pitch.
It was his 13th league goal of the season, strengthening his position at the top of the scoring charts.
With this strike, Lautaro also reached 128 Serie A goals for Inter Milan, drawing level with club legend Alessandro “Spillo” Altobelli as the fourth all-time scorer in the competition for the club.

But the significance goes even deeper. The Argentine forward is now on 170 goals in all competitions for Inter Milan, just one behind Roberto Boninsegna, the third-highest scorer in the club’s entire history.
After scoring, Lautaro revealed a message printed on his shirt: a birthday wish and a heartfelt dedication to his daughter.
She was his first thought after the goal, and she was also at the center of his emotions when he later returned home carrying the MVP award for the match.
Set pieces, growth and responsibility: Lautaro’s message after the match
Speaking after the final whistle, the Inter Milan captain shared his feelings and reflections:
“I dedicated the goal to my daughter. Since she was born, she has changed my life, so this award is for her. But it’s also for the fans of this Inter Milan.
We work a lot on set pieces. It’s true that we have conceded some goals, and that’s why we’re working even harder on this aspect. Constant improvement is essential, because in tight matches against teams that defend deep, set pieces can make the difference.
We have to keep going like this, doing the same work. We have an important advantage at the top of the table, but there is still a long way to go. Every match matters to us. We must improve what we did wrong today, because we suffered in the second half. The league is very balanced.
Regarding the firecracker that exploded, these things must not happen. People are put at risk. We are footballers, we are people, and we put on a show watched all over the world. We must be careful and apologize to Audero, who is also a former teammate of ours and a champion who won the Second Star with us. We also apologize to the Cremonese fans, because episodes like this should never happen.”
Lautaro’s words once again underline the maturity of a captain who leads Inter Milan not only with goals, but with responsibility and awareness.
