Cristian Chivu reflects on energy management, Frattesi’s role and the challenges of a crowded calendar
Speaking to Sky Sport via Fcinter1908, Cristian Chivu analyzed Inter Milan’s 2–0 away victory over Cremonese, highlighting the team’s ability to manage different phases of the match and secure an important result.
“The main thing I take from this match is the win,” Chivu said. “But also the maturity in understanding the moments of the game and finding the right way to win.”
From a tactical point of view, Inter Milan controlled the match within the limits allowed by their opponents, even if the tempo was not always ideal.
“In terms of dominance, considering what they allowed us to do, we were in the game,” he explained. “We were a bit slow in possession and lacked some energy. Still, we managed to unlock the match, go two goals up, and then a drop in intensity and some relaxation in the second half is understandable, given the scoreline and the energy spent.”
The priority, however, was clear.
“It was important to win and take it home. I’m happy we managed to do that.”
Frattesi, workload concerns and the transfer window
Asked about Davide Frattesi starting the match after recent transfer rumors, Chivu was direct:
“Frattesi is an Inter Milan player. For me, he’s an important player in the squad and he has to show it on the pitch.
We trust his qualities until the final months of the season. We need everyone, including Frattesi in optimal condition, to give us something extra in certain matches, especially when we’re missing something.”

Conte, Spalletti and the debate on fatigue
On comments from Antonio Conte about playing too many matches and Luciano Spalletti’s idea of ‘invisible training’, Chivu took a balanced stance:
“I think the decisions made in the past show what has been given. I’ve always given rest and I’ve been criticized for it as well. I’m not a professor or a genius, but I’ve made my decisions.”
He added:
“Everyone plays a lot. It’s hard to find energy and there is a risk of injuries, but when a team competes in many tournaments, it has to accept some level of risk. You can make mistakes or not, but we continue on our path.”
The Nerazzurri market
Finally, on potential reinforcements in the transfer window, Chivu kept expectations grounded:
“I’m waiting to recover energy. We have another match on Wednesday and we are the same 25 players as always.
We’ve tried to involve everyone during this period. I don’t complain, I don’t come here to say what I’ve said elsewhere. There’s one day left, and I can’t wait for the transfer window to be over."
