Inter Milan wingback admits Nerazzurri lacked shardpness in front of goal
Federico Dimarco has shared his thoughts after AC Milan defeated Inter Milan 1-0 in the Milan derby thanks to a goal from Pervis Estupinan.
Speaking to Sky Sport via Fcinter1908 after the match, the Inter Milan wingback admitted that his side failed to create enough chances compared to their usual standards this season.
Dimarco: “We created too little”
Dimarco explained the tactical approach Inter Milan had planned for the game:
“In the first half we planned to stay in a mid-block because we knew AC Milan could hurt us on the counterattack. But we created too little compared to what we’ve shown in the league so far. We lacked clarity.”

The Italian international also pointed out two key chances that could have changed the outcome.
“We had two opportunities, one for me and one for Mkhitaryan, and we should have done better.”
Inter Milan still focused on the bigger picture
Despite the defeat, Dimarco stressed that Inter Milan remain in a strong position in the league standings.
“I don’t know the reason. I just know that some people didn’t even see us finishing in the top four, and now in March we’re seven points ahead. We just have to keep doing what we were doing before today.”
VAR debate after Ricci incident
Dimarco also commented on a controversial moment involving Samuele Ricci.
“I didn’t see it at first, but Pio raised his hand. Every Sunday people talk about refereeing decisions.
I don’t like doing it, but the arm looked wide and maybe it could have been checked by VAR. These are important matches.”
He compared the situation to a similar episode from last season involving Lazio.
“Last year in Inter Milan-Lazio they equalised because of a similar situation.”
Dimarco: “AC Milan deserved the win”
Finally, Dimarco acknowledged AC Milan’s performance and the difficulty of derby matches.
“Some of us need to lead the team. We’ve played many big matches, but derbies are always different.
AC Milan aren’t second in the table by chance. They were better than us and they won the game.”
