Como Star remains difficult target for Nerazzurri

Inter Milan continue to keep a close eye on Nico Paz, even though a deal for the Como playmaker appears extremely difficult to complete.

According to Tuttosport via Fcinter1908, the connection between the Argentine youngster and Inter Milan resurfaced during a dinner on Thursday evening at Botinero, the Milan restaurant owned by Inter Milan vice-president Javier Zanetti.

Paz attended the dinner alongside his father, Pablo Paz, who was once a teammate of Zanetti with the Argentine national team. Also present was another iconic Inter Milan figure, Diego Milito.

Inter Milan have been tracking Nico Paz for months

Inter Milan have reportedly admired the left-footed attacking midfielder since last spring and would love to bring him to San Siro. However, the move remains complicated for several reasons.

First of all, Real Madrid hold a buy-back clause on the player and are seriously considering bringing him back to the Santiago Bernabeu to evaluate him with the first team. Much will depend on the identity of Real Madrid’s next coach.

Como could also keep their Star

Another possibility is that Paz remains at Como for another season, especially if coach Cesc Fabregas manages to guide the club to a surprising qualification for the UEFA Champions League.

Transfer fee out of Inter Milan’s reach?

Estimating Paz’s value is difficult, but Tuttosport reports that last summer Como rejected an offer from Tottenham Hotspur worth around €70 million (£60.4, $79.9 million).

Such a figure would likely be beyond Inter Milan’s budget unless the club’s ownership group, Oaktree Capital Management, decided to make a major statement signing in the event of a Serie A title victory.

Coach Cristian Chivu would reportedly welcome Paz enthusiastically, seeing him as a key piece in shaping a more attacking Inter Milan, potentially in a 3-4-2-1 system.
