Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Only Barella, Calhanoglu, Zielinski, and incoming Sucic are certain to stay. Big names like Mkhitaryan, Frattesi, and Asllani could be on the move.

Inter Milan’s midfield could undergo a major overhaul this summer. The only players certain to remain are Barella, Calhanoglu, and the newly signed Zielinski, along with Sucic, who is expected in June.

Uncertainty surrounds the future of Mkhitaryan, who may choose to retire at the end of the season, as well as Frattesi and Asllani. The club had hoped for more development from the latter.

Inter Milan’s midfield could undergo a major overhaul this summer.

“Mkhitaryan is a key player for Inzaghi, but on April 15, ahead of Inter Milan-Bayern, he said: ‘I might have one or two years left, or maybe I’ll retire at the end of this season.’ The coach would probably chain himself to the gates of Appiano Gentile rather than see the eternal ‘Mkhi’ hang up his boots, but a potential Champions League victory might persuade the 36-year-old ex-Borussia Dortmund star to say goodbye,” notes Tuttosport via Fcinter1908.it.

Frattesi’s role in doubt, Mkhitaryan’s future unclear, and Asllani may exit

“Frattesi, on the other hand, was unhappy with his playing time for much of the season and considered leaving in January.

He later became a European hero for Inter Milan with decisive goals against Bayern and Barcelona.

If guaranteed a starting role, he would likely stay. However, his playing style may not align with Inzaghi’s tactics, making a transfer a real possibility.

As for Asllani, the club is still evaluating.

Despite a few recent good performances, the 23-year-old Albanian hasn’t shown the growth—especially in terms of personality—that Inter Milan expected.

A departure is on the table, either on loan or via permanent sale, possibly as part of a swap deal.”
