Cristian Chivu leaves Parma and steps up as Inter Milan's new manager, signing a two-year contract through 2027 after coaching the Primavera squad

Cristian Chivu has officially terminated his contract with Parma today and has been announced as the new head coach of Inter Milan.

After a successful stint at the helm of Inter Milan's Primavera (Under-19) team, Chivu now steps into the role previously held by Simone Inzaghi with the senior squad.

The Romanian tactician, who wore the Inter Milan shirt as a player and has since risen through the coaching ranks, has signed a two-year deal with the Nerazzurri, valid until June 2027.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via Fcinter1908.it, his new salary will be approximately €2.5 million (£2.12 million) per season plus performance-related bonuses.

Simone Inzaghi, who departed the club after a strong season, was earning €6.5 million (£5.53 million) per year plus bonuses.

This marks a significant reduction in the wage bill for Inter Milan, while also signaling a shift toward a more sustainable and perhaps more developmental approach with Chivu’s promotion from within the club.

Chivu’s promotion reflects Inter Milan’s long-term vision and internal trust

Inter Milan’s decision to hand the reins to Chivu emphasizes their commitment to nurturing internal talent, both on and off the pitch.

During his time with the Primavera, Chivu led the youth team to notable achievements, including a national championship title and consistent performances in the UEFA Youth League.

Now, with the senior team, the challenge will be greater—but so is the opportunity. Chivu is seen as a coach who understands the club's culture deeply and has earned the trust of the management through hard work and tactical acumen.

Fans are hopeful his appointment will ensure continuity and fresh energy after Inzaghi’s exit.
