Inter Milan step up Curtis Jones pursuit as Liverpool hold firm
Inter Milan are preparing an improved offer for Curtis Jones, but Liverpool remain reluctant to sell as new head coach Andoni Iraola insists he wants the midfielder to stay
Inter Milan have not given up on their pursuit of Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones despite the Premier League club's firm stance on the player's future.
The 24-year-old England international remains one of Cristian Chivu's priority targets as the Nerazzurri continue searching for another high-quality midfielder ahead of the new season.
Although Jones' contract expires in June 2027, Liverpool are reportedly demanding at least €40 million (approximately $47 million) before considering his departure.
Inter Milan ready to increase their offer
According to Corriere dello Sport, reports from England claiming Inter Milan had already submitted a €32 million bid (approximately $37.5 million) have not been confirmed.
However, the Italian newspaper states that the club is seriously considering increasing its offer in an attempt to convince Liverpool to negotiate.
Jones is viewed internally as the ideal addition to Chivu's midfield thanks to his technical quality, work rate and ability to play in multiple central roles.

The Inter Milan coach has reportedly made it clear during discussions with club executives that he wants more intensity and creativity in midfield, qualities he believes Jones would immediately provide.
Because of the transfer fee involved, club president Giuseppe Marotta is expected to seek approval from ownership before making what would be one of Inter Milan's biggest investments of the summer.
Such a deal would represent an exception to the financial guidelines established by Oaktree Capital, highlighting just how highly the club rates the Liverpool academy graduate.
Liverpool remain determined to keep Jones
Despite growing interest from Inter Milan, Liverpool have shown no intention of lowering their valuation.
Reports suggest Jones has already rejected a contract extension at Anfield and has also turned down interest from Nottingham Forest, preferring to wait and see whether Inter Milan can reach an agreement with the Premier League champions.
Liverpool's new head coach Andoni Iraola has also publicly expressed his desire to keep the midfielder.
Speaking about Jones, Iraola praised both his footballing ability and his character, describing him as an outstanding player and expressing hope that he would remain at the club for many years to come.
Those comments underline Liverpool's position and suggest negotiations will not be straightforward.
With other clubs continuing to monitor the situation, Inter Milan know time could become a decisive factor.
If the Nerazzurri truly consider Jones one of Chivu's priority signings, an improved offer may have to arrive sooner rather than later.
