With the January transfer window fast approaching, decision time is coming at Inter Milan. According to information gathered by Fcinter1908, the Nerazzurri leadership is considering an internal operation rather than a traditional market move.
The idea on the table concerns the left flank and would involve two highly rated young players, one currently between the First Team and the U23 squad, the other already earmarked for the future.
The names under discussion are Matteo Cocchi and Marcelo Vaz, both left-sided players, both born in 2007, and potentially tied to the same strategic decision.
Cocchi and Vaz: profiles compared
Much has already been said about Cocchi. Widely regarded as one of the crown jewels of the Inter Milan youth system, he is a regular starter for Stefano Vecchi’s U23 side.

At the same time, Cocchi has been consistently involved with the First Team, being included in Cristian Chivu’s squad for the last eight matches across Serie A, Champions League, Coppa Italia and the Italian Super Cup. He also made a notable appearance, playing around 30 minutes against Venezia.
Marcelo Vaz, on the other hand, is making his name in Serie D with Varesina. The Guinean winger stands out for his pace and physical power and has attracted attention from several Serie A clubs.
Inter Milan moved quickly and decisively, securing an agreement for the player ahead of next season.
Linked futures and Inter Milan January scenario
The ongoing physical issues affecting Dumfries, combined with the need to deploy Carlos Augusto as the primary backup for both Dimarco and Bastoni, as well as an emergency option on the right flank, could accelerate internal changes.
In this context, Cocchi could be permanently promoted to the First Team, leaving Vecchi with David as the only natural left-sided option in the U23 squad.
That vacancy could then be filled by Vaz, whose arrival might be brought forward to January rather than next summer.
For now, it remains just a hypothesis. But as winter approaches, it is one that could soon turn into reality for Inter Milan.
