Marotta and Oaktree hold talks as club opts for caution

On the eve of a crucial match, tension rippled through Inter Milan following news of the investigation involving Gianluca Rocchi, accused of alleged sports fraud and of favoring refereeing appointments toward the Nerazzurri.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via Fcinter1908, most of the events under scrutiny date back to last season, a campaign marked by disappointment and no trophies at the tail end of the era under Simone Inzaghi.

This timeline has left Inter Milan surprised, even bewildered, by the unfolding situation. Ironically, several of the matches cited were unfavorable for the club, including defeats against Bologna FC 1909 and in the derby against AC Milan.

Behind closed doors, discussions intensified. Senior figures, led by president Giuseppe Marotta, held direct talks with ownership group Oaktree Capital Management.

Despite internal meetings and analysis of the limited information available, the club ultimately chose not to release any official statement.

Doubts, past matches, and Inter Milan waiting for clarity

Today, in Turin, no interviews are expected. Inter Milan are deliberately waiting for the right moment to speak publicly.

Informally, however, the club is described as stunned by the situation, yet calm about the days ahead, especially since no member of the organization has received formal legal notice.

Several aspects of the case raise questions within the club. One concerns referee Daniele Doveri, allegedly considered “unwelcome” by Inter Milan, yet still appointed for key matches, including Coppa Italia derby defeat that effectively ruled him out of officiating a potential final.

Doveri had already overseen multiple Inter Milan fixtures, including a draw against SSC Napoli where a disputed penalty incident involving Denzel Dumfries sparked frustration.

He was also in charge of a league match shortly after a Coppa Italia semifinal, another difficult moment in the club’s season.

Attention also turns to Andrea Colombo and the controversial Bologna vs Inter Milan clash on April 20.

A disputed throw-in decision preceded a decisive goal by Riccardo Orsolini, leaving lasting bitterness. Before that match, Colombo had officiated Inter Milan five times, all victories, with a dominant goal difference.

Another episode still lingers in memory: the match between Inter Milan and AS Roma on April 27, ending in a 0–1 defeat.

A missed handball penalty involving Evan Ndicka remains a sore point, compounded by VAR audio that reportedly disappeared for a long period.

That week, which also included losses to Bologna and AC Milan, marked one of the darkest stretches in recent years, extinguishing title hopes.

For now, Inter Milan remain in observation mode. No statements, no noise—just a club watching the storm swirl, waiting for clarity before stepping forward.
