Josep Martinez is currently the leading candidate to become Inter Milan’s next starting goalkeeper.

“It is not yet a certainty, but at this moment it is the most likely scenario,” the report explains. “The Spanish goalkeeper earned pole position through his performances and a noticeable change in attitude.”

However, the shift ahead of Vicario is not based solely on technical reasons. Financial strategy also plays a crucial role.

By avoiding a major investment on a new first-choice goalkeeper, Inter Milan could redirect resources toward other transfer priorities. Above all, toward dream target Nico Paz.

From backup option to future starter: Martinez changes the picture

Martinez, though, still has work to do. After stepping into the spotlight, he now needs to confirm his growth during the season’s final stretch.

He is expected to start both the Serie A match against Lazio and Wednesday’s Coppa Italia final against the same opponent.

Inter Milan supported the Spaniard throughout the season, but according to the report, some issues emerged off the pitch rather than on it.
