Mehdi Taremi is on the verge of leaving Inter Milan in the final days of the transfer window. The Iranian striker, who joined the Nerazzurri last year on a free transfer after the expiration of his contract with Porto, has not managed to carve out a decisive role under Cristian Chivu. Now, with Inter Milan reshaping their squad, the club is ready to let him go.
Olympiakos leading, PSV and Panathinaikos still in the running
According to Sky Sport via Fcinter1908, the race for Taremi’s signature has narrowed to three contenders: Olympiakos, PSV Eindhoven, and Panathinaikos.
Among them, Olympiakos appear to be in pole position. Talks are advancing for a permanent move, with the Greek giants keen to strengthen their attack before the market closes.
The financial side of the operation is also crucial. Inter Milan, having secured Taremi on a free, now see the opportunity for a small but significant return.
Reports suggest that between the transfer fee and the savings on his gross salary, the club could reach a total benefit of around €10 million (£8.5m).
That figure represents not just the value of the deal, but also much-needed flexibility in wage management for the Nerazzurri.

For Taremi, this move could represent the chance to revive his career at the top level. The striker, who was prolific at Porto, has struggled to replicate that form in Serie A. Competition for places at Inter Milan, combined with Chivu’s tactical preferences, has limited his opportunities. A switch to Greece or the Netherlands would give him regular playing time and the platform to prove himself once again.
Olympiakos, with their Champions League ambitions, seem particularly attractive. PSV, on the other hand, could offer him a chance to shine in a league known for fast-paced, attacking football. Panathinaikos are slightly behind in the race but remain a concrete option.
Inter Milan’s strategy is clear: streamline the squad, cut costs, and prepare for future reinforcements.
Offloading Taremi is part of this wider plan, and a decision is expected soon. Should Olympiakos finalize the move, it would mark the end of a brief and underwhelming spell in Serie A for the Iranian striker.
