Inter Milan vs Torino: Chivu’s probable line-up for Serie A opener

The Nerazzurri kick off the Serie A season at San Siro against Torino, with Chivu set to debut on the Inter Milan bench

The anticipation grows for the Serie A debut of Cristian Chivu’s Inter Milan, who today at San Siro will face Marco Baroni’s Torino. 

The Nerazzurri are expected to start with their traditional 3-5-2 formation, though there are some updates regarding the Romanian coach’s choices.

Between the posts, Yann Sommer is confirmed. In defense, Benjamin Pavard looks set to win the duel with Bisseck, while Francesco Acerbi and Alessandro Bastoni will complete the back line. 

On the flanks, Denzel Dumfries and Federico Dimarco will take their usual roles.

In midfield, there will be some changes: Luka Sucic and Nicolò Barella — positioned as a deep-lying playmaker according to Sky via Fcinter1908 — will play alongside Henrikh Mkhitaryan, with Hakan Calhanoglu unavailable due to suspension.

Sommer in goal, Thuram and Lautaro lead the attack

Up front, there are no doubts. Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martínez will form the attacking duo, the same pair that gave solidity and goals last season. 

From the bench, Bonny is ready to step in, while Pio Esposito will be absent as he too is suspended.

Inter Milan will rely on their depth, energy, and experience to start the campaign strongly, with Chivu eager to mark his debut with a convincing performance at San Siro.
