Inter Milan's attack set for overhaul ahead of next season

Inter Milan’s attack likely set for a rebuild — Only Lautaro and Thuram are safe.

Every player wants to leave their mark in the derby, but for some Inter Milan forwards, even that might not be enough to secure a spot for next season. 

"If Arnautović proves decisive, he’ll deserve the applause of the Curva Nord. 

His seven goals this season have helped the team stay competitive across three competitions, but they haven’t been enough to convince the club to extend his contract. He is expected to start on the bench today," reports La Gazzetta dello Sport via Fcinter1908.it.

The attacking department is expected to undergo several changes.

As in Bologna, Inter Milan should line up with Lautaro and Correa up front. One is the team’s attacking certainty; the other, the Argentine with his bags packed. 

Joaquín’s season has been underwhelming — only one goal for Inter Milan, in the 5–0 win over Verona. Not much to argue for a renewal of his deal, which expires in June.

Correa has scored five times against Milan in his career, including one in a Coppa Italia semifinal — but all while playing for Lazio.

Mehdi Taremi, on the other hand, has already managed to make his mark on a derby — although it was later erased by Milan’s comeback. 

That happened in the Supercoppa clash in Riyadh, where he scored the Nerazzurri’s second before Milan hit back with three goals.
That remains one of just three goals Taremi has scored in an Inter Milan shirt. 

His derby story began in the summer of 2023, when he seemed destined for Milan’s side of the city. Then came Porto’s change of heart, and he eventually joined Inter Milan a year later on a free transfer.

His €3 million (£2.5 million) net salary, however, is now seen as excessive compared to his output this season. 

So despite being under contract with Inter Milan until 2027, the club may already be considering potential buyers willing to take him off their hands.
