Inter Milan planning midfield future as Chivu eyes reinforcements

Calhanoglu’s situation raises questions for Nerazzurri

The future of Hakan Calhanoglu at Inter Milan remains uncertain. The Turkish midfielder’s contract runs until 2027, but a potential departure is increasingly being discussed inside the club.

With that in mind, coach Cristian Chivu has already started planning what Inter’s midfield could look like in the coming seasons.

Goretzka and Jones among options

According to Corriere dello Sport via Fcinter1908, Inter Milan have gathered information about Leon Goretzka through the player’s entourage. 

The German midfielder is approaching the final stage of his contract situation, although the report suggests that negotiations are not particularly advanced at this stage.

Another player highly appreciated by Chivu is Curtis Jones. Currently under contract with Liverpool FC until 2027, the midfielder is viewed by the Inter Milan coach as a player capable of bringing a significant upgrade to the team’s midfield.

Inter Milan evaluating future options

While no final decisions have been made, Inter Milan’s management are already evaluating potential changes in midfield as they prepare for the next phase of the project under Chivu. 

Much could depend on Calhanoglu’s contract situation and whether negotiations over his future resume in the coming months.
