Dimarco and Mkhitaryan: “A sigh of relief and three vital points”

After the 2-0 victory over Lecce, Federico Dimarco and Henrikh Mkhitaryan spoke to DAZN via Fcinter1908, reflecting on a demanding match that allowed Inter Milan to build momentum after the win against Juventus.

Dimarco, who delivered the decisive corner for Mkhitaryan’s opener and was named Man of the Match, admitted the breakthrough felt liberating.

“That goal was a big sigh of relief. We knew it would be a tough game, they are very well organised. We came back from Bodo on Thursday and left again yesterday. 

But it’s good like this because it’s a win that gives continuity after Juventus and helps us extend our lead in the table.”

Asked about the MVP award, Dimarco was quick to deflect praise. “For me, Mkhitaryan deserved it. He came on very well. Where will I put the trophies? My kids will sort them out. What matters is always the team before individual prizes and continuing the run we are on.”

On the whistles directed at Alessandro Bastoni, Dimarco chose a calm approach. “Those are things from the past. He has already spoken, others have spoken too. We focus on the present, on the pitch and on ourselves.”

Unity and decisive moments

Mkhitaryan, who unlocked the match at the Via del Mare, also shared his thoughts. Joking about predictions made before the goal, he said: “Nobody told me anything. Bastoni was supposed to go into the box but he had just made a great defensive intervention and didn’t have the energy. I was there and I scored, as always.”

The Armenian midfielder echoed Dimarco’s words on team spirit, especially regarding Bastoni. “We must always stay united. We are a team, a family, and we support each other in good times and bad. What happened has happened. Now we look forward.”

On a night where travel fatigue and pressure hovered in the background, Inter Milan found clarity through teamwork.
