Inter Milan beat Juventus after two years. Big match taboo broken as Chivu’s side rediscover heart and belief

Two years later, Inter Milan return to beating Juventus. And the word that echoed most loudly at the final whistle was one repeated again and again by Cristian Chivu: heart.

This Inter Milan versus Juventus clash is one that lingers. Pio’s towering header beneath the Curva Nord.

Zielinski’s left foot at minute 90. The red card shown to Kalulu, widely debated and described as non existent. It is the kind of night that will be discussed until the final round of the season.

Chivu appeared in the press room just before midnight, calm but visibly proud, ready to hand out praise to everyone.

From those who decided the match to those who featured less, the coach made it clear he values each player. The controversy took the spotlight, but inside the dressing room the focus was elsewhere.

A turning point in big matches and a familiar title omen

The big match taboo has finally fallen. Inter Milan had not defeated Juventus since 4 February 2024.

It became a recurring narrative, revived even after the home draw against Napoli, the only game in the last thirteen league matches in which the Nerazzurri failed to collect three points.

There is also a statistical whisper that feels almost prophetic. Only three times in their history have Inter Milan won 20 of their first 25 Serie A matches: in 1988-89, in 2006-07 and in 2023-24.

On each occasion, they went on to become Champions of Italy. Each time, history followed. Most recently, the second star was secured in the derby.

Chivu did not dwell again on Esposito, having already spoken about him several times. But the message is clear. If the young forward from Castellammare is now scoring and dreaming with the first team, much of the credit belongs to the coach who believed in him from the start.

Their story began in the Primavera side, when Chivu handed him the captain’s armband to test his character.

Esposito responded with a hat trick. Fate brought them together again at San Siro, celebrating a victory over Juventus in a match where Inter Milan went ahead three times after being pegged back twice.

This was not just another win. It felt like a release, a response, and perhaps the beginning of something larger.
