The Saudi club is pushing to sign Inter Milan’s coach after the Champions League final, with a staggering two-year deal on the table
An extraordinary offer at a far from ideal time: Simone Inzaghi has reportedly received a sensational proposal from Al-Hilal, the Saudi club eager to sign him right after the Champions League final against PSG, scheduled for May 31.
This was reported today by L’Équipe via Fcinter1908.it, which revealed some intriguing details.
"Until a few days ago, negotiations had taken place in utmost secrecy. However, rumors began to surface right before Inter Milan’s most important match of the season.
Inzaghi, at the helm of the Nerazzurri since 2021, is now in the sights of the ambitious Saudi side, which is looking to appoint him as their new manager."
In fact, Al-Hilal’s president is said to have personally flown to Milan to meet Inzaghi at his home.
Initially, the Italian coach rejected the Middle Eastern club’s approach, but Al-Hilal did not give up—countering with increasingly convincing arguments.
Just days ago, even Inzaghi’s wife, who was initially skeptical, reportedly made an exploratory trip to Riyadh with one of their children to assess living conditions in the Saudi capital.

€50M deal, family visits to Riyadh, and silence from Inter Milan: Al-Hilal turns up the pressure
According to sources close to the negotiations, Al-Hilal’s management is very confident about sealing the deal soon.
The proposed contract is said to be a two-year deal worth around €50 million (approx. £ 42 million).
While nothing has been signed yet, initial talks have reportedly begun about potential changes to the squad.
For now, Inter Milan remains silent. No official statement has been made about this sensitive situation. Inzaghi’s entourage has neither confirmed nor denied the reports, simply saying they "know nothing."
The pressure is all coming from Al-Hilal, which is in a hurry to find a high-profile replacement for Jorge Jesus, who was dismissed in early May.
The Saudi club’s leadership is in full preparation mode ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup, which runs from June 15 to July 13.
They aim to make a major impact at the tournament. In recent weeks, Al-Hilal received rejections from Marco Silva (Fulham) and Unai Emery (Aston Villa), but remains determined to make a splash by signing Inzaghi.
Alternative option: Galtier on standby
Before making any final decision, Inzaghi wants to focus fully on ending the season on a high note—perhaps by lifting the Champions League trophy.
If he changes his mind, Al-Hilal already has a Plan B, with a shortlist of alternative coaches ready for either a short- or long-term project. One of the names being considered is Christophe Galtier, former head coach of Lille and PSG, currently managing Al-Duhail in Qatar.
