De Vrij: “We did our part, now full focus on the Champions League”

The words of the Inter Milan defender, who wore the captain's armband during the match against Como and opened the scoring

A win that wasn’t enough for Inter Milan to top the table on the final day of the 2024/25 Serie A season.

It was a strong and determined victory for the Nerazzurri, sealed by Stefan de Vrij, who led the team as captain at the Stadio Sinigaglia and netted the opening goal in the first half.

The Dutch centre-back, named MVP of the match, scored his third goal of the season, but despite the win, it wasn't enough to clinch the Scudetto.

At the final whistle, De Vrij spoke in the post-match interviews:

“We did our part. We knew that tonight things depended on other results, and we couldn’t do more than we did. Now we have to leave this behind and prepare as best as we can for the Champions League final.

The Scudetto? It goes to whoever finishes first, but we do feel like we could’ve done more in the league. 

Right now, we’re all extremely eager to play a great final—we’ve worked so hard and done so well in the Champions League, and we’ll give everything to finish it in the best way next week.”
