Three assists and leadership as Inter Milan pull away at the top

A dominant night at the Mapei Stadium, sealed by Federico Dimarco’s brilliance. With three assists against Sassuolo, the left wing-back was once again decisive for Inter Milan, leading Cristian Chivu’s side to a resounding 5-0 victory.

Speaking after the match, Dimarco kept his feet firmly on the ground despite another standout display:
“We didn’t start very well and conceded a couple of counter-attacks. Thankfully that goal was disallowed. Our objective was to take the three points and we’re happy,” he said.

Asked about being labelled one of the best wing-backs in the world, Dimarco dismissed individual praise:
“I don’t feel like anyone special. In football, when things go well you’re a phenomenon, when they don’t you’re considered poor. I only think about team objectives.”

Captain Lautaro: records, praise and focus on what matters

The emphatic win in Reggio Emilia also temporarily pushed Inter Milan eight points clear of AC Milan, who still have a game in hand, ahead of a crucial upcoming clash with Juventus at San Siro on Saturday 14 February.

After the match, captain Lautaro Martinez spoke to DAZN via Fcinter1908, reflecting on his latest milestone: 171 goals for Inter Milan, placing him on the club’s all-time podium.
“What matters most are the collective objectives,” Lautaro said. “But this is an important personal milestone for my career and my life.

It means a lot to me and my family, for everything I went through growing up. I’m extremely happy.”

On Dimarco’s impact, the captain was clear:
“Right now he’s definitely among the best. He’s in a decisive moment and he changes games. That’s a big advantage for us, and we’re taking full benefit. Individual quality makes the difference, and he’s proving that.”

A decisive month ahead for Inter Milan

With a demanding schedule looming, including Bodo/Glimt, Juventus, Milan and other direct clashes, Lautaro emphasized the need for focus rather than complacency:
“We’ve dropped points in important matches, but the performances have always been there. We must improve the details to get results.

We have to keep our heads down, keep working, and give 100 percent. We’re in a great moment and the staff are doing an excellent job with recovery. We’re happy with the season so far.”

Intensity, leadership and collective strength once again defined Inter Milan’s performance. And with Dimarco dictating games from the left and Lautaro leading from the front, Chivu’s side continue to send a clear message at the top of Serie A.
