New attacking certainty for Inter Milan ahead of season kickoff

After years of relying mainly on Lautaro and Thuram, Inter Milan now boast fresh attacking options with Bonny and Pio Esposito

The final rush of the transfer market may still bring surprises, but Inter Milan already have one certainty that marks a change compared to recent seasons: the attack. 

After two years of dependence on Lautaro and Thuram, the Nerazzurri’s forward line now seems to finally offer the alternatives that were missing in the past.

“The initial hopes of the new coach seem to be confirmed by the signs coming from the summer friendlies, where all the strikers found the net across the four matches: two goals each for Lautaro, Bonny and Pio Esposito, and one for Thuram.

As seen in the recent friendlies, Bonny brought pace and speed in one-on-one situations, while Pio Esposito appears to be the perfect target man to rely on physicality and attack the goal. 

At 21 and 20 years of age respectively, they still have room to grow, especially in big matches and the Champions League nights ahead. 

Based on performances on the pitch and the chemistry found during training camp, Chivu expressed satisfaction with the four forwards, which has led to reflections on whether adding another option such as Lookman is even necessary.”
